Social Auxiliary Work

The purpose of the qualification is to equip qualifying learners
with the following: Basic knowledge and understanding of the South African context within which social services function and are delivered. Understanding of social development in terms of the needs, policies and the role of the social auxiliary worker. Basic knowledge of human behaviour, relationship systems and social issues and the ability to address social needs using appropriate
social auxiliary work methods and techniques. The skills to work as a team member and as a provider of support services to the social work team

CO U R S E  CO N T E N T
Theoretical training (30% of the training programme)
-Practical workplace training at a welfare organisation e.g.
NGOs,NPO’s, DSD, FBO, DOH, DOE (70% of the training programme).
-Registration and orientation will take four days. The Schedule of Learning (SoL) will indicate the dates and duration of the theoretical training as well as the mentor orientation.
-Theoretical Training in Social Auxiliary Work is compulsory.
-Practical workplace in Social Auxiliary Work training is
compulsory.
-The learner attends the workplace for five full days a week to do workplace training on how to work with individuals,families, groups and communities under the active involvement,  guidance and control of a registered social worker who will actas your Mentor.
Assignments: For each module the learner will have to complete two practical assignments and three workplace activities.
